What GLU32 Xtra does
The GLU 32 Xtra allows Director applications to make calls to 32-bit Dynamic Link Libraries (DLL's). Since the Windows System API is implemented as a group of DLL's, GLU32 provides access to Windows system calls as well. Macromedia's older DLLGLUE XObject also provides access to DLL's, but it only works with 16-bit DLL's and will not run under Windows NT or under Director 7 or later. GLU32 runs under Windows 95, 98 and NT, works with 32-bit DLL's and works under versions of Director from 6 on. GLU32's syntax was designed to be as similar as possible to the old16-bit DLLGLUE to shorten the learning curve.
The GLU32 Xtra can call either Microsoft Win32 or Borland Win32 compatible DLL's using either the __stdcall or __cdecl calling conventions and offers full support for 64-bit floating point doubles. The Xtra is tiny, at under 62k, and offers excellent performance.
