Quest3D 2.0 offers a whole range new interesting features for existing users. The user interface has been improved for easier control and new modules are available that offer complete new functionality to Quest3D.
Quest3D offers shadows in real-time and there is a new editor to paint objects like grass and trees onto the landscape. The sound system has also been improved for easier handling. The sound system now has better 3D performance and additional controls are available for modifying the pitch and panning of sounds.
New A.I. channels make things like path finding and logic much easier and the new array channel allows users to work with multiple objects easier than before. Also new is a more simple system for materials which allows sharing materials between objects.
The new interface has a far superior selection system which allows users to move multiple objects at once and edit materials of multiple objects at once. There is now support for aspect ratio in the editor and the interface has been cut down and simplified so it is easier to use.
Quest3D 2.0 comes with a new manual that functions as an introduction course for Quest3D rather than a reference manual. The manual has a top-bottom approach with several examples taken from real applications. The old reference style manual stays available as a digital document.
On this page you can read more about Quest3D 2.0. The actual release date has been set to the 30th of June 2003.
Backward Compatible
Quest3D 2.0 is backward compatible, this means that you can succesfully load projects from previous versions. Some channels that are replaced by improved versions are hidden and can only be activated by loading old projects. For new project you can use the improved components.
