RT2500 only supports DV format, which is even lower than DVCPRO25 (4:1:1), 25 mbps. DVCPRO50 (4:2:2)is broadcast quality, 50mbps. The visual difference is probably not very big on consumer tv, but if you watch it on a pro video monitor, you can tell the difference straight away.
And you'll definitely run into problems if you want to do a key with consumer DV format, because of the high compression ratio.
